Our client is seeking an analyst to join its Boston based team. The Boston Sustainable Investment Banking team advises clients across the energy transition and broader sustainability ecosystem, including renewable energy, climate technology, resource efficiency, environmental services, sustainable infrastructure, and circular economy businesses. The team partners with founders, financial sponsors, and public companies on strategic transactions that drive long-term value creation.

Position Overview

The team is seeking a highly motivated Investment Banking Analyst to join its Sustainable M&A team in Boston. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex middle-market M&A transactions while gaining exposure to innovative companies shaping the future of energy, infrastructure, and sustainability. Analysts are integral members of lean deal teams, receiving significant responsibility, direct client interaction, and mentorship from senior bankers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the execution of sell-side, buy-side, strategic advisory, and capital raising transactions for sustainability-focused clients.
  • Build and maintain detailed financial models, including operating models, valuation analyses, merger models, and LBO analyses.
  • Prepare valuation materials using DCF, comparable company, precedent transaction, and other analytical methodologies.
  • Develop client presentations, pitch books, confidential information memoranda (CIMs), management presentations, and marketing materials.
  • Conduct industry, market, and company research across renewable energy, climate technology, environmental services, sustainable infrastructure, and adjacent sectors.
  • Assist in due diligence processes, data room management, and coordination with clients, legal counsel, accountants, and other advisors.
  • Monitor transaction timelines and support execution through signing and closing.
  • Stay informed on sustainability trends, regulatory developments, and evolving market dynamics impacting the sector.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with a strong academic record in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of investment banking experience, preferably within M&A, industrials, infrastructure, power & utilities, energy transition, or sustainability-focused sectors.
  • Strong financial modeling and valuation skills.
  • Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple live projects in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated interest in sustainability, energy transition, or climate-related industries is highly preferred.
