Animator and Motion Graphics Designer

Role purpose

Create engaging, accessible and production-ready animation and motion graphics that communicate learning concepts clearly and align with approved scripts, visual storyboards and brand requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop animation and motion graphics from approved scripts and visual storyboards.
• Create visual production storyboards, style frames and animation treatments where required.
• Animate characters, environments, objects, diagrams, text and interface elements.
• Develop explainer animations and animated video sequences.
• Prepare or adapt layered graphic assets for animation.
• Apply appropriate timing, pacing, transitions and visual emphasis.
• Synchronise animation with narration, dialogue, music and sound.
• Apply brand, accessibility and readability requirements.
• Optimise outputs for digital learning, video and LMS delivery.
• Maintain organised project files, linked assets and editable source files.
• Complete production self-checks and rectify feedback accurately.
• Collaborate with Learning Designers, Graphic Designers and video and audio specialists.

Essential requirements

• Advanced Adobe After Effects capability.
• Strong animation, motion-design, timing and composition skills.
• Experience producing educational, explainer or information-based animation.
• Ability to interpret scripts and translate them into visual sequences.
• Experience working with Illustrator and Photoshop source assets.
• Strong understanding of video formats, frame rates, resolution and export settings.
• Ability to synchronise visual content with voice-over and audio.
• Strong file organisation and version-control practices.
• High attention to visual consistency and production detail.

Desirable requirements

• Character animation capability.
• Illustration or graphic-design capability.
• Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro, Audition or similar tools.
• Experience developing visual production storyboards.
• Experience designing for adult learning or workplace training.
• Understanding of accessible motion, captions, readability and avoidance of harmful flashing.
• 3D animation or emerging-media capability.
• Experience using approved AI tools for ideation or production support.
