Job Description: Intermediate Australian Bookkeeper with Xero Experience

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Intermediate Australian Bookkeeper with proficiency in Xero accounting software. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of Australian accounting standards and practices, and at least 2-3 years of bookkeeping experience. This role involves maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. The successful candidate will be proactive, able to work independently, and possess excellent organizational and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Record Keeping:

    • Secure and maintain financial information as directed by the client.
    • Document financial transactions by entering account transaction information into Xero.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in compliance with Australian accounting standards.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable:

    • Process receipts and payments efficiently and accurately.
    • Manage debtor and creditor accounts, including reconciliation.
    • Handle outbound calls for accounts receivables management and inbound calls for creditor inquiries.
  • Reconciliation and Reporting:

    • Conduct ledger reconciliation, bank reconciliation, trial balance, and prepare financial statements.
    • Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
    • Prepare weekly cash flow reports as directed by the client.
  • Compliance and Regulatory:

    • Ensure compliance with BAS, PAYG, and superannuation requirements.
    • Prepare performance reports and other ad hoc financial reports as required by the client.
    • Maintain confidentiality of clients financial information and protect operations by keeping financial data secure.
  • General Administrative Support:

    • Maintain working papers as directed by the client.
    • Assist with other administrative tasks such as form completion, creating credit accounts, and managing database details on internal software.
    • Prepare payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Must be degree qualified in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably within an Australian context.
  • Proficiency in using Xero accounting software is mandatory.
  • Strong bookkeeping skills and familiarity with Australian accounting practices.
  • Excellent English oral and written communication skills.
  • High level of initiative with the ability to suggest process improvements.
  • Exceptional work ethic and client focus.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to work within deadlines.
