Role purpose

Edit video, dialogue, narration, music and sound into polished, accessible media suitable for digital learning, workplace training and client communication.

Key responsibilities

  • Edit live-action, presenter-led, scenario-based and b-roll video.
  • Assemble footage according to approved scripts, shot lists and storyboards.
  • Select appropriate takes and construct coherent sequences.
  • Edit and clean dialogue, narration, music and sound effects.
  • Correct audio levels, reduce noise and improve speech clarity.
  • Perform colour correction and basic visual enhancement.
  • Add titles, lower thirds, graphics, transitions and supplied motion elements.
  • Synchronise separately recorded audio and video.
  • Prepare and accurately time captions.
  • Apply accessibility, branding and production requirements.
  • Export and optimise media for LMS, web and presentation delivery.
  • Maintain organised project files, proxies, media assets and editable source files.
  • Complete technical and production self-checks.
  • Incorporate review feedback accurately and efficiently.

Essential requirements

  • Strong Adobe Premiere Pro or equivalent editing capability.
  • Audio-editing capability using Adobe Audition or equivalent software.
  • Demonstrated experience editing dialogue-led and educational video.
  • Strong sense of timing, continuity, pacing and narrative clarity.
  • Experience cleaning audio and balancing dialogue, music and effects.
  • Understanding of video codecs, frame rates, resolution and export settings.
  • Experience preparing captions or caption files.
  • Strong file organisation, media management and version-control practices.
  • Ability to follow approved scripts, storyboards and editing notes.
  • High attention to audiovisual quality and detail.

Desirable requirements

  • Basic or intermediate After Effects capability.
  • Experience with colour grading and audio mixing.
  • Experience editing multi-camera footage.
  • Experience creating accessible learning media.
  • Understanding of SCORM and LMS media constraints.
  • Experience in adult learning, VET, government or workplace training.
  • Music-editing or sound-design capability.
  • Experience using approved AI-assisted transcription, captioning, noise removal or editing tools with human verification.
