Job Description
- Lead and oversee the entire import function of the organisation, ensuring timely procurement and clearance of international raw materials, machinery, and finished goods.
- Develop and execute import strategies aligned with production schedules, inventory levels, and supplier commitments to avoid bottlenecks and delays
- Ensure complete compliance with all national and international import laws, including SROs, customs clearance regulations, HS codes, and applicable duties/tariffs.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with freight forwarders, clearing agents, shipping lines, and inspection agencies to ensure end-to-end control and reliability of import operations.
- Negotiate favourable contracts with overseas suppliers and logistics partners, covering payment terms (LCs, TTs), shipping terms (Incoterms), and freight arrangements.
- Monitor and manage the complete import cost structure, including duties, port charges, demurrage, freight, and currency fluctuations to minimise landed costs.
- Coordinate closely with procurement, finance, warehouse, and production teams to align shipment schedules with operational priorities.
- Implement tracking systems and dashboards for real-time visibility into import consignments, shipment milestones, and clearance timelines.
- Supervise import-related documentation, including IORC, PI, BL, CO, Form-E, insurance certificates, and ensure audit readiness and timely regulatory filing.
- Maintain strong communication with regulatory bodies such as Customs, SBP, FBR, and TDAP, and represent the company in resolving all import-related matters.
Education & Experience
- Masters or Bachelor's Degree in International Trade, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration.
Minimum 12+ years of progressive leadership experience.
- At least 5 years in a similar role at a group or conglomerate level.
