Piping and Stress Analysis Engineer is the person who will be responsible for preparation of critical and non-critical line lists, run stress analysis on required systems and prepare reports, review stress sketches to ensure adequate flexibility and supporting, review of 3D design models and construction isometrics, drawings and documents, submission of pipe rack and structural sizing/elevation requirements, structural loads, equipment nozzle and support loads, input to P&ID reviews. In addition, piping and stress analysis engineer will also be responsible for designing supports on pipe systems, preparing material requisitions and datasheets for supports, the timely review and comment of equipment/package vendor drawings and documents, provide comments on locations and interfaces within vendors package and piping. Piping and Stress Analysis Engineer will be technically responsible to the Stress Analysis Team Lead and administratively to the Piping and Plant Design Supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Involve in design of Project at feasibility, conceptual, detail engineering and design stages, where output comes in terms of documents and drawings
  • Plan and prepare layout to analyze the space requirement of pipe rack and location of terminal points
  • Inform civil structural team about pipe racks, platforms and structural requirements
  • Prepare isometrics and perform stress analysis as required
  • Select components such as supports, fittings, etc., prepare welding specifications and testing requirements to produce an optimum design
  • Prepare datasheet for supports, special type fittings, etc., coordinate with vendor to make sure the right product is delivered,
  • Prepare specification for vendor quote, perform TBE (technical bid evaluation) at times,
  • Review and ensure that the design complies with relevant international standards and codes, local codes and client technical specification
  • Prepare the material lists depicting all the materials, sizes, specification, special requirements, testing requirements to meet the design, as an input for procurement team.
  • Review drawings and documents of vendor supplied equipments, valves and skids to verify piping requirements are met
  • Perform site inspections at vendor manufacturing unit to qualify a vendor to check that he can supply the bulk requirement on demand
  • Perform site visits to construction site for verification of design (when required)
  • Cross-verify the stress report with supports mentioned in the drawings to avoid design flaws,
  • Assisting Project engineering and construction teams for last minute modification requirements and design changes during construction
  • Review red-lined drawings from the construction team and prepare as-built drawings after completion of construction and red-lined drawings, as necessary.
  • Review MRs and BoQs of piping components, special items, and other piping-related items on time to support the shop and site fabrication and erection activities,
  • Review designs in accordance with current codes, standards, and regulations and evaluate for completeness and accuracy,
  • Review P&IDs,
  • Review vendor documents,
  • Coordinate internal and external design reviews together with project's Lead Piping Designer,
  • Interact and communicate effectively with internal and external contacts to report project status and address project-related issues.
  • Visit client facilities and/or jobsites as needed to obtain information for design.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience in design and engineering of piping in power plants and/or fields of refineries, petrochemical plants and oil & gas sectors.
  • Full conversant with relevant international code & standards such as ANSI/ASME, DIN/EN, AWWA, API standards
  • Full conversant with 3D CAD systems (Preferably with Smart Plant 3D, PDMS or Aveva E3D) and 3D MODEL REVIEW systems (Preferably SP Review, AVEVA Review or Autodesk NavisWorks)
  • Full conversant with 2D CAD SYSTEM (Minimum Auto CAD)
  • Full conversant with Pipe Stress Analysis Systems (Preferably CAESAR 2)
  • Competent with MS Office (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Conversant with the requirement of ISO 9001:2015
  • Full conversant with piping engineering and design practices in energy, refinery, oil & gas, and/or petroleum industry. (Preferred)
  • Experience in preparing proposals and ITB (Preferred)
  • Experience working with a multinational workforce (Preferred)
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering design codes, standards and regulations.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • The position requires that the employee visits the construction sites when required

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Employee will work in an office environment with possible field assignment in a temporary facility/structure. Travel is required in this position.
