Time Frame: 10 months (March December 2025)

Geographic Focus (Province/District): ACO x 7, Central Region x 32, North Region x 22, Eastern Region x 19, Southern Region x 24, Western Region x 23

Minimum Qualification and Experience:

  • The Extenders must have at least graduated from the 12th grade, with preference given to those with a 14th grade and bachelors degree
  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience working with UNICEF Education Section.
  • Received training on the Education Extenders (EE) Training Workshop organized by the UNICEF and possess theoretical and practical knowledge to enhance integrated monitoring of education programs including UNICEF internal monitoring, Third-party monitoring (TPM) and joint monitoring with the Education Cluster.
  • Received training of UNICEF Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse is an advantage.
  • Deep understanding of the cultural and social context in Afghanistan, with sensitivity to local customs, traditions, and challenges faced by caregivers.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish trust and rapport with children, Teachers, and IPs staff from varying backgrounds.
  • Ability to collect and report data.
  • Fluency in local languages. Proficiency in English is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of working with children and understanding of gender in Afghanistan is an advantage.
  • Previous work experience with UNICEF Afghanistan CBE program is an asset

Specific Tasks/Activities

  1. Support to Program Coordination
  2. Education Program (Public Schools and CBE) Implementation, Monitoring, and ESS Compliance:
ESS and GRM requirements:
Monitoring Environmental and Social Safeguarding (ESS) as an integral part of program monitoring.
Ensure CBE classes have GRM systems, including GRM logbook, incident logbook designated focal points, and UNICEF call center posters

3. Supply Monitoring (Public Schools and CBE), including WASH, boundary walls, TLM Distribution, HPT Installation, and ESS Compliance: 

ESS and GRM requirements: Ensuring the sustainability and environmental impact of school infrastructure projects align with UNICEFs ESS standards. Record and resolve grievances within the reporting month. Ensure that implementation of ESS measures is monitored on regular basis

4. Education in Emergency (EiE)

5. Ad Hoc Tasks: Supporting urgent requests from ZOs and ACO related to education program implementation, supply monitoring, and coordination in real time. Any additional duties assigned by UNICEF ZOs and ACO
