Job Title: Senior Nutrition Program Coordinator

Location: Nangarhar, Mazar e Sharif

Duration: Till December 31st 2025

Minimum Qualification and Experience: 

  • Minimum 5 year of experience on the field of nutrition
  • Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SPSS, Power BI, etc)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent analytical and writing skills in English, Pashtu and Dari
  • Excellent coordination and facilitation skills.

Tasks to be Performed:

  • Support nutrition extenders in nutrition program/project development and planning
    • Support nutrition extenders (NE) to develop annual nutrition provincial plan, monitoring and work plans based on what is needed in provinces.
    • Review and compile all NEs monthly plans and provide feedback and inputs
    • Analyze and exchange of information with nutrition extenders such as monitoring findings, nutrition database, national nutrition surveillance system (NNSS) reports, etc. to assess progress, identify bottlenecks and potential problems.
    • Review and compile NE monthly activity reports, provide them feedback and compile NE monthly TAF and compare it with their plans and the SOP for NEs.
    • Compile and synchronize NE monitoring checklist analyze their monitoring checklists and provide them feedback regarding positive and negative pints 
    • Check NE's reports including admin/finance documents, supportive supervision, meetings minutes.
  • Provide technical support to program management, monitoring and delivery of results
    • Provide technical support to all NEs in all interventions of nutrition activities in Health Facilities (HFs), health posts, community based and in schools
    • Support NEs to conduct effective supportive supervision from HFs, health posts, communities
    • Conduct regular field visits to all provinces in the region to assess and support NEs to enhance their communication and coordination skills.
    • Support and follow up with NEs to conduct data verification sessions for Weekly Iron Folic Acid Supplementation (WIFS), integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (IMAM), Community Based Nutrition Program (CBNP) and Maternal, MMS, MNP, Infant and Young Child Nutrition (MYCN) indicators using agreed tools such as national management information system (MIS) including Health Management Information Systems  (HMIS), Nutrition Information System (NIS)
    • Support and follow up with NEs to monitor and report Community Based Nutrition Program (CBNP) implementation
    • Support and follow-up with NEs on the progress of AFSeN provincial platform functioning and multi sector programming, as well as USI committee and other coordination platforms as required.
    • Conduct nutrition trainings for NEs and service providers
    • Proactively supervise the nutrition extenders' technical performance in all provinces of the zone and provide technical support as needed. The senior nutrition extender is required to have periodic visits to other provinces in the region to successfully deliver results.
  • Innovation, knowledge management and capacity building
    • Work on capacity building of NEs in the provinces as travel to all provinces within the zone and provide on the job trainings to NEs on monitoring, supervision, planning and report writing.
    • Provide support to zonal nutrition officers on cost estimation for events (trainings and workshops conducted by UNICEF)
  • Support coordination and planning activities:
    • Attend the nutrition provincial committee (NPC) and nutrition cluster (NC) meetings and preparation the minute of NC meeting
    • Attend to the emergency preparedness (EPR) committee meeting
    • maintain excellent working relations with partners and other contractors
    • Ensure nutrition activities are following government rules and regulations
    • Coordinate closely with other services providers and/or NGOs in the area to ensure complementary programming
    • Support convergence activities with other programs (Health, WASH etc.) during supervisions, monitoring and other occasions and other activities as needed.
