Site Engineer – Civil & Infrastructure Projects

Tier 1 Coal Mining Operator | Contract Position

The Opportunity

Proactive Projects is partnering with a Tier 1 coal mining operator to support a major expansion program, and we are seeking a motivated Civil Site Engineer to join the construction delivery team for upcoming civil and infrastructure works.

This role will provide hands-on site engineering support across a diverse package of bulk earthworks, drainage, utilities, and mining infrastructure projects. Working closely with Supervisors and construction teams, you will play a key role in coordinating daily project activities, tracking costs, managing documentation, and supporting safe, efficient project delivery.

This is an excellent opportunity for an emerging project engineer looking to further develop their experience within a large-scale mining construction environment.

Project Scope

The project portfolio includes:

• Approximately 10km of haul road construction
• Sediment dams and diversion drain infrastructure
• Stormwater diversion drains and levee works
• HV powerline installation
• HDPE dewatering pipeline installation
• Maintenance pads, shutdown pads, and associated infrastructure
• Access tracks, corridor clearances, and ancillary civil works

Works will be delivered directly by the project team using hired plant and contractor labour resources.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Project Delivery Team, you will:

• Provide day-to-day site engineering support across active construction works
• Collate daily dockets, timesheets, plant hours, and project data for cost tracking purposes
• Review construction and plant utilisation data to identify discrepancies or missing information
• Assist with onboarding and mobilisation of plant, equipment, and personnel to site
• Coordinate inspections, compliance checks, and maintain project registers
• Support geotechnical investigation activities including test pits and borehole programs
• Coordinate subcontractors and testing crews during field activities
• Assist with QA/QC processes including ITPs, hold points, proof rolls, and project documentation
• Work closely with Supervisors and construction teams to support safe and efficient project execution

About You

You are a proactive and organised Site Engineer looking to build long-term experience within mining project delivery.

You will demonstrate:

• 3+ years' experience in a Site Engineer or Project Engineer role
• Experience supporting civil construction or mining infrastructure projects
• Strong organisational and coordination capability within fast-paced site environments
• Exposure to bulk earthworks, drainage, haul roads, or utilities projects highly regarded
• Ability to interpret construction data, plant utilisation, and site records
• Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills
• High attention to detail across documentation and project controls

Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or a related discipline will be highly regarded.

Engagement Details

• Minimum 6-month engagement with strong potential for extension to 12 months+
• Site-based role working Monday to Friday
