About the job Project Manager
Our client is seeking a seasoned professional to lead the development, renovation, and maintenance of retail properties. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pre-Development: Conduct site assessments, feasibility studies, and develop project budgets and timelines.
- Project Management: Oversee construction and maintenance projects, managing contractors and ensuring compliance with regulations and internal standards.
- Design & Construction: Collaborate with design teams to ensure brand alignment; review plans, control costs, quality, and timelines.
- Leasing & Operations: Align tenant requirements with project plans and coordinate smooth handovers to operations.
- Financial Oversight: Manage budgets, track expenses, and analyze ROI to support informed decision-making.
- Stakeholder Management:
Communicate project updates to internal and external stakeholders. Build strong relationships with tenants, vendors, and partners. Handle conflict resolution professionally. - Administration & Compliance:
Maintain accurate project documentation. Ensure adherence to company policies. Support process improvements and contribute in team meetings. - Project Leadership & Execution:
Oversee end-to-end execution of all allocated projects, including new store openings, closures, revamps, and maintenance. Lead the project team and coordinate cross-functional efforts to deliver projects on time and within budget. - Team & Resource Management:
Manage and mentor teams, providing input on performance, remuneration, and incentives. Direct procurement activities, ensuring cost-effective and reliable supplier SLAs. - Operations & Governance:
Present project plans and budgets for approval. Chair new store meetings, manage asset registers, oversee quality control, and lead OHS compliance efforts. Handle purchase orders and departmental payments.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Grade 12 (Matric) required
- Relevant tertiary qualification advantageous
- 23 years experience as a Project Manager essential
- Property or retail industry experience advantageous
- Proficiency in MS Excel essential
- Experience in construction and health & safety advantageous
- Procurement experience advantageous
- Proven experience leading teams essential
- Experience drafting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) advantageous
- Strong track record managing Service Level Agreements (SLAs) essential
