Financial Accountant

Our retail client is seeking a hands-on and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to support the finance function across multiple retail entities. This role is critical to ensuring accurate month-end reporting, strong financial controls, meaningful commercial analysis, and efficient day-to-day finance operations within a fast-paced retail environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with the wider finance team, manage direct reports, and contribute to continuous process improvement and insightful reporting.

Key Responsibilities

1. Prepare and post month-end journals, including sales, cost of sales, stock, payroll, accruals, prepayments, and depreciation

2. Perform gross profit checks and investigate variances

3. Prepare and maintain balance sheet and creditor reconciliations

4. Review daily, monthly, and rental payments

5. Process cash flow, confidential, and forex payments

6. Assist with banking and credit card queries

7. Manage finance-related portals and banking platforms

8. Produce monthly reports and operational analysis (stores, DC, transport, costs, and performance)

9. Review time and attendance (clock-in) reports

10. Support process improvements within the finance function

11. Manage and support junior finance team members

12. Assist with ad hoc projects and financial analysis

• B. Com Accounting Degree
• 5 years of experience in a similar role
