Location: Astana, Kazakhstan

We are looking for a highly motivated Associate or Senior Associate to join our growing M&A team with a focus on the Metals & Mining and Oil & Gas sectors. This role is a great opportunity to work on complex and high-profile deals, advising leading local and international clients.

Our client is a reputable investment firm based in Kazakhstan, well known for its expertise in M&A advisory and portfolio management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support M&A transactions (buy-side, sell-side, joint ventures, private equity, and venture capital) with a primary focus on Metals & Mining and Oil & Gas.
  • Build and maintain detailed financial models, company valuations, benchmarking, and peer analysis.
  • Prepare client presentations, teasers, information memoranda, and other marketing materials.
  • Perform deep market research and strategic analysis, particularly within the natural resources and energy sectors.
  • Support deal execution, including negotiations of LOIs, term sheets, and binding transaction documents.
  • Supervise, guide, and mentor junior team members such as analysts and interns.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field from a top university; CFA is a plus.
  • 45 years of experience in M&A, corporate finance, or transaction advisory, with exposure to Metals & Mining or Oil & Gas sectors, backgrounds from investment banking, in-house M&A, private equity, venture capital, or Big 4 are highly valued.
  • Strong technical skills in financial modeling, valuation, and corporate finance.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Fluency in English and Russian is required; Kazakh is an advantage.
  • International work or education experience is highly appreciated.
