About the job Laundry Attendant
As a Laundry Attendant, you will be responsible for providing efficient and high-quality laundry services to ensure clean and well-maintained linens, uniforms, and guest laundry. Your attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness will play a crucial role in contributing to a positive guest experience and the overall success of our hotel.
Responsibilities:
- Sort, wash, dry, fold, and press hotel linens, uniforms, and guest laundry according to established procedures and guidelines.
- Operate and maintain laundry equipment, including washers, dryers, ironing machines, and folding machines, ensuring they are in good working condition.
- Handle stained or damaged items appropriately, following specific treatment procedures or seeking guidance from the Laundry Supervisor.
- Check and record laundry equipment settings, such as water and detergent levels, to ensure optimal efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Inspect finished laundry items to ensure they meet quality standards, are free of wrinkles and stains, and are properly folded and presented.
- Handle guests' personal laundry requests promptly, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the laundry area, including keeping the workspaces and laundry machines clean and organized.
- Sort and distribute clean linens and uniforms to the appropriate hotel departments as per the established par levels.
- Report any maintenance or equipment issues to the Laundry Supervisor or maintenance team for prompt resolution.
- Follow all health and safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment by using proper lifting techniques and handling chemicals appropriately.
- Assist with linen inventory management, conducting periodic counts and reporting discrepancies to the Laundry Supervisor.
- Collaborate with other housekeeping team members to ensure a smooth workflow and effective communication between departments.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in laundry operations, preferably in a hotel, resort, or hospitality setting, is an advantage but not required.
- Basic understanding of laundry procedures, including sorting, washing, drying, folding, and pressing.
- Attention to detail and the ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks effectively.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
- Strong work ethic and a positive attitude towards teamwork and guest service.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, and lift heavy laundry items for extended periods.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to laundry operations is an advantage.
