The Light and Sound Technician plays a critical role in enhancing the guest experience by ensuring seamless audiovisual production for events, performances, and entertainment activities. This role involves technical expertise in setting up, operating, and maintaining lighting and sound equipment to create captivating and immersive entertainment experiences.
Responsibilities:
- Set up and configure lighting and sound equipment for events, shows, and activities, ensuring optimal functionality and quality.
- Operate lighting consoles, soundboards, microphones, speakers, projectors, and other related equipment during events.
- Manage cues, transitions, and effects to enhance the visual and auditory aspects of each production.
- Collaborate with Entertainment Coordinators and event organizers to understand the technical requirements of each entertainment event.
- Participate in pre-event meetings to align lighting and sound designs with the event concept and goals.
- Conduct regular maintenance and quality checks on lighting and sound equipment to ensure their reliability and safety.
- Identify and troubleshoot technical issues that may arise during events, taking prompt corrective actions.
- Stay updated with industry trends, new equipment, and technology advancements to suggest improvements and enhance the overall guest experience.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while operating equipment and managing cables to ensure the safety of guests, performers, and fellow team members.
- Communicate effectively with the entertainment team and other hotel departments to ensure coordinated event execution.
- Provide technical support and guidance to performers, presenters, and other involved parties.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or relevant training in audiovisual technology is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Light and Sound Technician, preferably in a hospitality or entertainment setting.
- Proficiency in operating lighting consoles, soundboards, microphones, speakers, projectors, and related equipment.
- Strong understanding of lighting design principles, audio systems, and signal flow.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues quickly and effectively under pressure.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on the hotel's entertainment schedule.
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems and safety protocols related to audiovisual equipment.
- Strong communication skills to effectively convey technical information to non-technical team members.
