About the job Minibar Supervisors

The Minibar Supervisor reports to the Room Service  Manager or the Assistant Front Office Manager and works closely with the Housekeeping and Food and Beverage departments to ensure efficient minibar operations.

Responsibilities:

  1. Minibar Operations: Manage all aspects of the minibar department, including inventory management, restocking, and cleanliness. Ensure minibars are stocked with a variety of beverages and snacks based on guest preferences and hotel standards.

  2. Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory records, track usage, and monitor stock levels. Coordinate with the purchasing department to place orders and receive deliveries. Conduct regular inventory audits to minimize losses and ensure appropriate stock rotation.

  3. Quality Control: Ensure minibar items are fresh, properly labeled, and comply with health and safety standards. Monitor product expiration dates and remove any expired items promptly. Conduct regular inspections to maintain cleanliness and presentation standards.

  4. Staff Management: Recruit, train, and supervise minibar attendants. Provide guidance, ongoing training, and performance feedback to ensure a high level of service and productivity. Schedule staff efficiently to meet guest demands while controlling labor costs.

  5. Guest Service: Ensure a high level of guest satisfaction by promptly addressing inquiries, requests, and concerns related to the minibar. Resolve any billing discrepancies and provide assistance to guests in selecting and enjoying minibar items.

  6. Revenue Optimization: Implement strategies to maximize revenue from minibar sales. Analyze sales data and trends to identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling. Collaborate with the sales and marketing departments to develop promotional offers and packages to boost minibar revenue.

  7. Systems and Technology: Utilize the hotel's property management system (PMS) or minibar management software to manage minibar operations, track consumption, and generate accurate billing. Stay updated on technological advancements in minibar systems and implement improvements as needed.

  8. Reporting and Analysis: Prepare regular reports on minibar usage, sales, and revenue. Analyze data and provide insights to management for decision-making and forecasting purposes. Identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance profitability.

  9. Budgeting and Cost Control: Assist in the development of the department's annual budget. Monitor and control expenses, including inventory costs, labor costs, and operational expenses, to achieve financial targets while maintaining service quality.

  10. Compliance and Security: Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and regulations, including health and safety guidelines, sanitation standards, and liquor licensing regulations. Safeguard minibar inventory and handle cash transactions securely.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. A degree or certification in Hospitality Management or a related field is an advantage.

  • Previous experience (typically 2-3 years) in a supervisory role within the hotel industry, preferably in minibar operations or a related area.

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with guests and staff effectively.

  • Knowledge of minibar inventory management systems and software.

  • Familiarity with food and beverage operations, including knowledge of beverage and snack items.

  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in using standard office software.

  • Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and holidays, as per business needs.

  • Knowledge of local health and safety regulations and liquor licensing requirements.
