Job Responsibilities:
- Operate commercial dishwashing equipment to clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, and other kitchen equipment. Ensure all items are thoroughly cleaned and stored appropriately. Hand wash items as needed. Maintain a clean and organized dishwashing area.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, floors, walls, and equipment. Follow established cleaning procedures and schedules. Empty and clean trash receptacles regularly. Assist with maintaining a clean and orderly kitchen environment.
- Ensure proper care, cleaning, and storage of kitchen equipment, such as pots, pans, trays, and utensils. Report any damaged or malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor.
- Support kitchen staff in basic food preparation tasks, such as peeling, chopping, and cleaning vegetables, and portioning ingredients.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations and sanitation standards in the kitchen and food service areas. Follow proper cleaning and sanitization procedures to ensure a hygienic environment. Assist in monitoring and maintaining records related to food safety and sanitation.
- Sort and dispose of kitchen waste in designated recycling and composting bins.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff and other team members to ensure effective communication and coordination of duties.
- Adhere to safety protocols and report any hazards or incidents to the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a steward or in a similar role is preferred but not required.
- Basic understanding of kitchen operations and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and cleanliness.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical stamina and the ability to perform repetitive tasks.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations is an advantage.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
