A Carpenter in a hotel is responsible for constructing, repairing, and maintaining wooden structures, furniture, and fixtures within the establishment. They play a crucial role in ensuring that the hotel's interior and exterior spaces are visually appealing, functional, and well-maintained.
Key Responsibilities:
- Construct and install wooden structures, including doors, windows, cabinets, counters, and furniture items.
- Collaborate with architects, interior designers, and project managers to bring their designs to life.
- Identifying areas that require inspection and assess existing wooden repairs or replacements.
- Perform repairs on damaged furniture, fixtures, and wooden surfaces to maintain their aesthetics and functionality.
- Apply finishes, stains, paints, and varnishes to wooden surfaces to enhance their appearance and protect them from wear and tear.
- Ensure that all surfaces are smooth, polished, and free from imperfections.
- Collaborate with hotel staff and management to create custom furniture or fixtures that meet specific functional and aesthetic requirements.
- Modify existing wooden elements to accommodate changes in layout or design.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while using tools and equipment to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Ensure that all constructed and installed structures comply with relevant building codes and regulations.
- Work closely with other tradespeople, such as electricians, plumbers, and painters, to ensure seamless integration of carpentry work with other hotel projects.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Proven experience as a carpenter or woodworking professional.
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in carpentry is a plus.
- Proficiency in using various carpentry tools, such as saws, drills, chisels, and measuring instruments.
- Strong understanding of wood types, finishes, and construction techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Physical fitness and dexterity to perform manual tasks and lift heavy materials.
- Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues and find creative solutions.
