The Auto Mechanic for a hotel fleet is responsible for maintaining and repairing the hotel's vehicles to ensure they are safe, reliable, and in optimal condition. This role contributes to the smooth operation of the hotel's transportation services and reflects the commitment to guest satisfaction and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections, to keep the vehicles in optimal condition.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical issues in vehicles, ensuring they meet safety and performance standards.
- Conduct thorough inspections to identify and address any potential problems before they escalate.
- Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule for the hotel's vehicle fleet.
- Keep detailed records of maintenance and repairs, including dates, parts used, and services performed.
- Respond promptly to vehicle breakdowns and emergencies to minimize downtime and disruptions to hotel operations.
- Effectively address urgent repairs to quickly restore vehicles to service.
- Source and order replacement parts, components, and consumables required for repairs and maintenance.
- Maintain inventory of parts and supplies, ensuring availability when needed.
- Ensure all vehicles meet safety and environmental standards and regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle inspections, repairs, and compliance documentation.
- Coordinate with other hotel departments, such as front office and housekeeping, to ensure transportation needs are met.
- Communicate effectively with drivers to gather information about vehicle issues and address their concerns.
- Maintain and organize tools, equipment, and work area to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
- Stay updated with advancements in automotive technology and repair techniques.
- Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge related to vehicle maintenance and repair.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; automotive technical training or certification is preferred.
- Proven experience as an auto mechanic with a strong track record of successful repairs and maintenance.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems in vehicles.
- Familiarity with modern diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with drivers and other hotel staff.
- Physical fitness and ability to perform tasks that involve lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, to accommodate the needs of the hotel.
