Bakers' Assistant
About the job Bakers' Assistant
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist the bakers in preparing doughs, batters, and other ingredients according to established recipes and procedures.
- Operate and maintain baking equipment, including mixers, ovens, proofers, and slicers.
- Scale, shape, and portion dough for bread, pastries, and other baked goods.
- Decorate and garnish baked goods, such as cakes, cupcakes, and cookies, as instructed by the head baker.
- Assist in baking and monitoring the baking process to ensure products are baked to perfection.
- Maintain a clean and organized bakery area, including proper storage of ingredients, tools, and equipment.
- Adhere to all food safety and sanitation standards, including proper handling and storage of perishable items.
- Follow established recipes and portion control guidelines to ensure consistency in product quality and presentation.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Understanding of food safety practices
- Experience with cake decoration techniques
- Excellent time-management skills
- Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment
- Team spirit, with a customer-focused attitude
- Flexibility to work in early morning shifts
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
- Proven work experience in a similar role
- Certification from a culinary school is a plus
