About the job Bar Supervisor

The Bar Supervisor reports directly to the Bar Manager  and collaborates with other departments to deliver exceptional guest experiences.

Responsibilities:

  1.  Oversee the day-to-day operations of the bar, including opening and closing procedures, stock management, and maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  2.  Recruit, train, and supervise bar staff, including bartenders, baristas, and servers. Set performance expectations, conduct regular evaluations, and provide training and development opportunities. Foster teamwork and maintain a positive work environment.

  3. Provide excellent customer service by engaging with guests, addressing inquiries, taking orders, and resolving any issues promptly and professionally. Ensure that guests have a memorable and enjoyable experience at the bar.

  4. Demonstrate expertise in beverage preparation, including cocktails, specialty drinks, and coffee. Ensure that all drinks are prepared to the highest standards and served promptly and accurately. Train staff on proper drink preparation and presentation.

  5. Manage bar inventory, including monitoring stock levels, conducting regular stock counts, and placing orders to replenish supplies. Minimize wastage and ensure efficient use of resources.
  6. Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with all relevant licensing laws, alcohol regulations, and health and safety standards. Train staff on responsible alcohol service and enforce legal requirements.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience (typically 2-4 years) in a bar supervisory or similar role within the hospitality industry.

  • In-depth knowledge of beverage operations, including cocktail preparation, coffee making, and drink service.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and handle busy periods effectively.

  • Proficiency in cash handling procedures and basic accounting principles.

  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and licensing laws.

  • Familiarity with inventory management systems and bar software.

  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

  • Certification in responsible alcohol service (e.g., TIPS or equivalent) is an advantage.

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Additional education or certification in hospitality or related field is a plus.
