About the job General Assistants/ Handy Man
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and work orders from various departments, including guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues related to plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC systems, furniture, fixtures, and other equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs, unclogging drains, replacing filters, and lubricating mechanical components.
- Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and procedures to identify and address potential issues before they become larger problems.
- Repair or replace defective equipment, furniture, or fixtures, ensuring compliance with safety standards and quality requirements.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and compliance with relevant safety regulations.
- Collaborate with other departments to support their maintenance needs and ensure smooth operations throughout the hotel.
- Assist with general repairs, renovations, and improvement projects as directed by the Maintenance Manager or supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in general maintenance, preferably within the hospitality industry.
- Knowledge of basic repair and maintenance techniques related to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and other building systems.
- Familiarity with hand and power tools, as well as maintenance equipment.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot maintenance issues effectively and implement appropriate solutions.
- Basic understanding of safety protocols and regulations related to maintenance work.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Good communication skills to interact with colleagues and guests in a professional and courteous manner.
- Physical stamina and the ability to perform manual labor, lift heavy objects, and work in various weather conditions.
- Flexibility to work different shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical certifications or vocational training in maintenance-related fields is a plus).
