We are looking for an Assistant Pastry Chef with a strong emphasis on bakery expertise to join our culinary team. This role involves collaborating closely with the Executive Pastry Chef to create and implement innovative bakery concepts, uphold exceptional food quality standards, and ensure the efficient operation of the bakery section.
- Associate Degree or equivalent; Additional education or certification in hospitality or related field
- Previous experience (typically 3-4 years) in a similar role within the hospitality industry
- Prior experience in luxury hotels, resorts, or high-end bakeries catering for 1500 guests per day is a plus
- Strong knowledge of baking techniques, equipment, and ingredients
- Ability to create a variety of baked goods, including breads, pastries, and desserts
- Knowledge of French pastries, bread and gluten free pastry items
- Excellent attention to detail and a creative approach to presentation, flavor and texture development
- Experience in scaling recipes and adjusting quantities for large-scale production
- Basic knowledge of dietary restrictions and the ability to create allergen-friendly or special dietary baked goods
- A keen understanding of trends in bakery and pastry arts to contribute to menu innovation
- Strong time management and organizational skills to handle multiple tasks effectively
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
- Strong teamwork and communication skills, with a willingness to mentor junior staff
