The  Assistant Maître d' plays a key role in ensuring exceptional dining experiences for guests. Working closely with the Maître d' and the restaurant staff, to  assist in overseeing the smooth operation of the dining area, managing reservations, and providing excellent customer service. Attention to to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to handle guest inquiries and concerns will contribute to the overall success of the restaurant and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

Guest Service and Reservation Management:

  1. Welcome and greet guests warmly, ensuring a high level of hospitality and professionalism.

  2. Assist guests with table selection and seating arrangements, considering their preferences and special requests.

  3. Manage reservations, both in-person and over the phone, ensuring accurate recording and timely follow-up.

  4. Coordinate with the Maître d' and the host/hostess team to optimize table allocations and ensure efficient seating.

  5. Maintain a thorough knowledge of menu offerings, special promotions, and any dietary restrictions or allergies to provide informed assistance to guests.

  6. Address guest inquiries, concerns, or special requests promptly and courteously, resolving issues to the best of your ability or escalating to the Maître d' when necessary.

Restaurant Operations Support:

  1. Assist in supervising the restaurant staff, ensuring proper grooming, uniform adherence, and professional conduct.

  2. Collaborate with the Maître d' and the kitchen staff to maintain smooth coordination between the dining room and kitchen.

  3. Support the flow of service, ensuring that tables are cleared promptly, reset efficiently, and proper utensils and linens are in place.

  4. Monitor and maintain cleanliness and organization in the dining area, ensuring tables, chairs, and other furnishings are presentable and in good condition.

  5. Collaborate with the bar staff to coordinate beverage service, including ordering and replenishing supplies and ensuring timely delivery of beverages to guests.

  6. Assist in the planning and execution of special events, private parties, and other dining-related functions.

Administrative and Reporting Tasks:

  1. Assist in maintaining accurate records and documentation, including reservation logs, guest preferences, and special requests.

  2. Generate reports related to table occupancy, reservation patterns, and guest feedback for review by management.

  3. Support the Maître d' in managing guest feedback, addressing any concerns or complaints, and implementing corrective measures.

  4. Assist with inventory management, including tracking and ordering restaurant supplies, linens, and other operational necessities.

  5. Stay updated with industry trends, service standards, and best practices in restaurant operations, applying relevant knowledge to enhance the overall guest experience.

Qualifications:

  1. Previous experience in a fine dining restaurant or hotel environment, preferably in a similar supervisory or assistant role.

  2. Strong customer service skills with the ability to provide personalized attention and address guest needs and concerns.

  3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with guests, staff, and management.

  4. Professional demeanor, with a warm and welcoming attitude that reflects the standards of the establishment.

  5. Strong organizational and time management abilities to handle reservations, prioritize tasks, and maintain efficient operations.

  6. Attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in reservation management and maintaining a high level of cleanliness and presentation in the dining area.

  7. Knowledge of food and beverage service procedures, including wine and cocktail service.

  8. Familiarity with reservation management systems and restaurant point-of-sale (POS) systems.

  9. Flexibility to work during evenings, weekends, and holidays as per the operational needs of the restaurant.
