Position Summary

We are currently expanding and are looking for motivated individuals to join us as public adjusters. The PA is a professional claims handler who advocates for the policyholder in appraising and negotiating a claimant's insurance claim throughout the claim process. The PA works well in a fast-paced environment, models behaviors that reflect our core values, and reports to a Claims Director.

The ideal applicant must have:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in property/casualty claims adjusting.
  • Understanding of insurance industry standards, policies, applicable laws, and regulations.
  • Must be a licensed Public Adjuster.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist the sales team in a limited capacity to qualify leads, being on-call at least one day per week to respond to inquiries and advise on whether a claim should be signed.
  • Promptly handle assigned claims, putting relationships first and creating a positive client experience.
  • Manage claims load and resolution through completion in a timely manner in line with quality standards.
  • Inspect, measure, present, and advocate a claim from beginning to end.
  • Utilize support teams, legal, engineering, and leadership effectively to resolve claims and maximize value for clients.
  • Utilize all claims-related management/support systems and tools efficiently.
  • Be a good team member, helping others where needed.
  • Evaluate existing insurance policies to determine applicable coverage.
  • Thoroughly investigate claims and present strong claim presentations to negotiate settlements.
  • Prepare detailed scope and cost estimates with experts for effective claim presentation.
  • Properly document claim files according to SOPs.

  • Manage clients expectations.
  • Maintain high-level service standards, reporting procedures, and statutory compliance.
  • Participate in networking and marketing events as required.
  • Continuously improve to meet licensing, continued education requirements, and increase professional and industry knowledge.
  • Work collaboratively, adjust efforts to be helpful to others, be self-accountable, create a positive impact, and diligently deliver results.
  • Ensure all licenses and certificates are up to date.

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Understanding of insurance industry standards, policies, applicable laws, and regulations.
  • Bachelors degree in business management-related fields or equivalent education, training, and work-related experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to present technical matters in simple terms for non-technical individuals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Xactimate.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Goal-oriented and comfortable working with metrics.
