About the Role:
This Security Field Engineer as the on-site project lead, overseeing the planning, execution, and successful completion of low voltage system projects, including access control, CCTV, intrusion alarm, and intercom systems. The Security Field Engineer is responsible for ensuring quality execution, coordinating with internal teams and subcontractors, and balancing customer satisfaction with project financial outcomes. This individual will manage resources, direct work on-site, ensure compliance with relevant codes, and maintain high ethical and safety standards throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead low voltage system projects from planning through closeout, including hardware design, system programming, installation coordination, commissioning, and final documentation.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal teams, clients, and subcontractors throughout all project phases.
- Direct daily activities of installers, technicians, and subcontractors to ensure timely and accurate completion of work.
- Evaluate scope of work and manage changes due to client directives, scheduling shifts, or site conditions.
- Coordinate the procurement, delivery, and installation of materials and equipment to support project schedules and budgets.
- Oversee hardware installation and ensure it aligns with manufacturer requirements and project specifications.
- Manage system loading, device verification, network configuration, and commissioning of all systems and controllers.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system functionality issues, ensuring proper operation prior to project closeout.
- Develop and deliver site-specific training for owners/operators and ensure all relevant documentation and manuals are provided.
- Ensure timely warranty execution and client support following project handoff.
- Attend job site and project progress meetings as required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years experience installing and servicing enterprise-level access control, CCTV, intrusion, and intercom systems.
- Strong technical knowledge of low voltage systems, with an aptitude for troubleshooting and repair.
- Active certifications in one or more of the following: access control, CCTV, intrusion, intercom.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and leading technical teams in the field.
- Familiarity with project documentation, building plans, and construction documents.
- Proficient in Windows OS, Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam/Studio, and general IT network systems.
- Ability to interpret architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawings and specifications.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment (e.g., multimeters, analyzers, meters).
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and maintain effective communication with stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in electronics, computers, military training, or trade school preferred.
- Must hold or be eligible for Department of Criminal Justice registration; background check, drug screen, and credit check required.
Physical Requirements:
- Regular use of computers and standard office equipment.
- Occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs.
- Frequent travel to job sites and client locations throughout the D.C., Virginia, Maryland region.
