We are seeking a motivated Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Specialist to join our team in Jeffersonville, IN. This role will support construction project teams by promoting a safe work environment, educating personnel on EH&S policies, and ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations. The successful candidate will actively identify and mitigate potential hazards and help foster a culture of safety across all project activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Educate construction project teams, including tradespeople, on EH&S policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Promote and enforce safe work practices in accordance with company policy and applicable regulations.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with project teams and subcontractor safety reps.
  • Assist in developing and enforcing the project safety program and policies.
  • Conduct site audits, safety meetings, training sessions, and job hazard analyses (JHAs).
  • Coordinate and facilitate preconstruction meetings and worker orientation programs.
  • Analyze safety reports and metrics to identify trends and recommend improvements.
  • Ensure proper documentation of safety activities, training, and incident reports.
  • Enforce drug screening protocols and compliance procedures as required.
  • Recommend corrective actions for unsafe practices and ensure timely resolution.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Minimum 2 years of construction safety experience
  • CHST certification required or must be obtained within two years of hire
  • OSHA 30-hour training completed
  • Current First Aid/CPR/BBP and AED certifications
  • Knowledge of safety/environmental principles and applicable EH&S regulations
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to recognize unsafe conditions and recommend effective solutions
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to create reports and presentations
  • Must be able to travel locally; reliable transportation required

Work Conditions:

  • Frequent exposure to construction site environments including moving equipment, heights, dust, and weather conditions
  • Physical activity includes climbing ladders, stairs, walking on uneven surfaces, and lifting up to 25 lbs
  • May occasionally work in an office or remote setting
