Accounting Internal Controls
Job Description:
The Accounting Policy and Control role plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity of the company's financial reporting process by ensuring adherence to new and existing accounting standards, internal control procedures, and regulatory requirements. This role is primarily responsible for assessing, documenting, and supporting the implementation of accounting guidance issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB). The position will serve as a key resource in managing and strengthening internal control environments, specifically focusing on internal control functions, disclosure controls, and reporting controls.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounting Guidance & Policy Implementation
- Monitor and evaluate newly issued accounting guidance from FASB, SEC, and other regulatory agencies.
- Lead the development, communication, and implementation of new policies and processes to ensure compliance with evolving accounting standards.
- Provide written analysis and summaries to support accounting positions on complex accounting issues or new guidance.
- Internal Controls & Compliance
- Serve as the central contact for managing financial reporting risks and ensuring compliance with internal control, disclosure control, and reporting control requirements under the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
- Maintain and enhance the system to identify, document, and monitor all Sarbanes-Oxley-related internal controls and ensure their continued effectiveness.
- Collaborate with various departments to continuously assess, document, and improve control functions and procedures.
- Ensure that reporting controls are aligned with the company's compliance requirements and operational needs.
- Assist with implementing GAAP and ensuring alignment with all internal and external regulatory reporting requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field. CPA certification preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of seven (7) years of experience, with at least four (4) years in accounting or auditing, ideally in a regulated industry or public accounting.
- Strong knowledge and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), SEC regulations, and internal control procedures, particularly in relation to Sarbanes-Oxley.
