Position Overview
We are seeking a self-motivated, experienced engineer with a strong background in mold design and plastic forming technologies. This individual will manage the development, procurement, and validation of molds, leveraging the latest technologies to ensure the design, production, and maintenance of high-quality molds.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement tooling strategies to meet production goals.
  • Manage new tool construction projects from inception to completion.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams for efficient tooling design and implementation.
  • Oversee the tooling repair department to ensure continuous improvement and efficiency.
  • Monitor tooling performance, identify improvement opportunities, and recommend solutions.
  • Design and develop new tooling, fixtures, and gauges to support production activities.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation for all tooling and processes.
  • Analyze data to identify areas for improvement and drive continuous optimization.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure the quality and reliability of tooling.
  • Research and apply advanced technologies to enhance mold repair, maintenance, and new construction.
  • Work with engineering teams to ensure product and tool designs are moldable, suggesting design changes or alternative processes when necessary.
  • Proactively pursue continuous improvement opportunities in mold design, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with vendors to bring innovative methods, materials, and equipment to enhance mold performance and maintenance.
  • Assist manufacturing teams in process improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in the injection molding industry with a focus on tool design.
  • 10+ years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Hands-on experience in mold design and construction is essential.
  • Proficiency with 3D modeling software.
  • Ability to read and interpret Moldflow analyses.
  • Experience with various mold materials and metal types.
  • Advanced expertise in cold runner and hot runner manifold systems.
  • Familiarity with various plastics manufacturing processes, including injection molding, extrusion, blow molding, and thermoforming.
  • Experience working with a wide range of polymers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel weekly as required.
