Position Overview:
Our facility is seeking a skilled Metallurgist to join our team. Reporting to the VP of Operations, the Metallurgist will lead quality control in the assay lab and oversee the mill operations, collaborating with multiple departments to maintain optimal production while ensuring safety and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage quality assurance/quality control for the assay lab and mill operations.
- Monitor mill processes to meet or exceed production targets.
- Work with Mine and Shaft Departments to minimize production interruptions.
- Oversee maintenance planning for mill operations.
- Identify and resolve production process issues.
- Provide technical support to mill operators, millwrights, and lab technicians.
- Conduct tests on new ore bodies and chemicals to optimize recoveries.
- Maintain chemical inventory and managed ordering processes.
- Control material inventories, including concentrate storage and ore tanks.
- Share metallurgical data with the Accounts Receivable Department for invoice preparation.
- Communicate inventory and production schedules to the Shipping Department.
- Collaborate with the Environmental Department on discharge water quality and TSF inspections.
- Stay current on industry practices and technological advancements.
- Plan budgets for production operations and capital.
- Supervise mill personnel, including the mill supervisor, lead millwright, and lab technicians.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and company standards.
- Develop and support personnel in line with operational needs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mill operations, maintenance, and production.
- Proficiency in mining operations, milling, flotation, and maintenance processes.
- Strong computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentations.
- Experience with process modeling software (preferred).
- Effective communication, interpersonal, and technical writing skills.
- Valid driver's license and full authorization to work in the United States.
Nice to Have:
- Knowledge of processing modeling software.
- Additional qualifications in metallurgical or chemical engineering.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary range of $90,000 - $120,000, based on experience.
