Position Overview:
We are looking for a C++ Build and Toolchain Support Expert to support and enable C++ developers using Visual Studio Code (VS Code) on Windows and Linux platforms. This role focuses on maintaining and enhancing the C++ build ecosystem, including CMake, GCC/g++, Clang++, and MSYS2, and assisting with the migration from MS Visual Studio to open-source alternatives.
The candidate will work closely with global Bosch teams, providing toolchain support, analyzing and improving existing build setups, developing reusable solutions, and contributing to internal documentation and training resources.
In addition to technical expertise, the role demands strong analytical, mentoring, and collaboration skills. The ideal candidate has a strong will to learn continuously, proactively shares knowledge, delegates solutions effectively to the team, and acts as a sympathetic, approachable, and decisive expert within the support function.
This is not a traditional C++ development role, but a toolchain-focused enablement role driving consistency, automation, and global developer support.
Key Responsibilities:
1 Provide technical support for C++ developers using VS Code with OSS toolchains (CMake, GCC/g++, Clang++, MSYS2, WSL).
2 Analyze and improve existing C++ build systems, especially those migrated from MS Visual Studio.
3 Develop reusable solutions, standards, automation scripts, and troubleshooting guides for recurring build/toolchain issues.
4 Create and maintain high-quality internal documentation, including Docupedia articles and training videos.
5 Collaborate with global Bosch development teams to ensure consistent toolchain practices across business units.
6 Continuously learn and evaluate new technologies relevant to C++ development toolchains.
7 Transfer expert-level knowledge to team members based on their skill level via mentoring, walkthroughs, or documentation.
8 Delegate common issues/solutions effectively to the broader support team to ensure scalable problem-solving.
9 Act as an approachable, reliable, and decisive expert for toolchain-related matters.
10 Promote a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and knowledge sharing within the developer ecosystem.
Qualifications:
· Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field 7+ years of experience in C++ Build and Toolchain
Mandatory Skills:
· Expert Knowledge in C++ (Toolchain), Cmake, GCC/g++, Clang/Clang++, Linux/GNU Tools, Build System Analysis
· Expereienced in Visual Studio Code, MS Visual Studio, Window and Git
· Experienced in Developer support, User Documentation, Process Definition, Analytical & Problem Solving.
· English skills on business level are mandatory
Preferred Qualifications:
· Knowledge on DevOps concepts, Leading the team is plus
· Experienced in Quality Management, Presentation skills and MS Office is Plus
