Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior ServiceNow Developer with over 8 years of hands-on experience in CMDB (Configuration Management Database) technical architecture and implementation. The ideal candidate will have expertise in implementing and managing Discovery, Service Mapping, and data reconciliation within the ServiceNow platform. This role involves leading the development of CMDB solutions, ensuring the quality of configuration data, and enabling effective management of IT assets and services.
Key Responsibilities:

CMDB Technical Architecture & Implementation:

Design, develop, and implement technical solutions for CMDB, ensuring alignment with best practices and organizational needs.

Lead the architecture, implementation, and maintenance of the CMDB in ServiceNow, ensuring accurate and comprehensive configuration data for IT services, assets, and infrastructure.

Develop and optimize data models and schema for effective representation of configuration items (CIs) and relationships in the CMDB.

Discovery & Service Mapping:

Lead the implementation of ServiceNow Discovery to automate the identification and population of CIs into the CMDB.

Configure and maintain Discovery probes, sensors, and patterns for diverse infrastructure components.
-
Implement Service Mapping to map complex business services and IT components, ensuring correct dependencies are captured in the CMDB.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Discovery and Service Mapping to ensure efficient and accurate CI population.

Data Reconciliation & Quality Management:

Lead data reconciliation efforts, ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of CMDB data.

Establish and manage processes for data quality checks, including continuous validation and improvement of CI relationships and data consistency.

Implement automated workflows for data correction and reconciliation to maintain CMDB data quality over time.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:

Collaborate with IT operations, security, infrastructure, and other teams to understand business requirements and ensure the CMDB supports operational and strategic goals.

Provide expert guidance and technical leadership on CMDB-related initiatives to internal teams, business units, and project stakeholders.

Work closely with ServiceNow administrators and developers to integrate CMDB solutions with other ServiceNow modules like ITSM, ITAM, and change management.

Documentation & Best Practices:

Document all CMDB configurations, development processes, and integration points for clarity and knowledge sharing.

Ensure adherence to industry standards and ITIL best practices for CMDB configuration and management.

Mentor junior team members on CMDB technical topics, best practices, and troubleshooting methods.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Experience:
-
8+ years of experience working with ServiceNow, with a strong focus on CMDB implementation, Discovery, Service Mapping, and data reconciliation.

Proven experience in leading CMDB technical architecture and implementation projects within large organizations.

Strong expertise in ServiceNow Discovery (including probes, sensors, patterns), Service Mapping, and data reconciliation processes.

Experience in developing and managing the lifecycle of configuration items (CIs) in the CMDB.

Technical Skills:
-
In-depth understanding of CMDB concepts, configuration item relationships, data models, and data flow within ServiceNow.

Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting ServiceNow Discovery and Service Mapping tools.
-
Hands-on experience with ServiceNow scripting (Business Rules, UI Policies, Script Includes) and other customization tasks related to CMDB.

Knowledge of integration techniques between ServiceNow and other IT management tools.

Experience with reporting and dashboards to monitor CMDB health and performance.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of explaining technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) CMDB or similar certifications.

Experience with ITIL frameworks, particularly Configuration Management, is highly desirable.

Knowledge of CMDB data models and governance best practices.

Experience with ServiceNow ITSM, ITAM, and other ITOM modules.
