Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled EV Automotive Technician with hands-on experience in Tesla and/or Chinese electric vehicle (EV) brands. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, repairing, and inspecting electric vehicles, including high-voltage electrical systems, battery systems, charging systems, and EV powertrains.
The role requires strong technical knowledge, diagnostic skills, and strict adherence to high-voltage safety procedures and OEM standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair electrical, electronic, mechanical, and EV-specific systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, servicing, and repairs on electric vehicles.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot high-voltage (HV) systems in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting of EV battery packs, Battery Management Systems (BMS), charging systems, inverters, motors, and powertrain components.
- Use advanced OEM and aftermarket diagnostic tools to identify faults, retrieve diagnostic trouble codes, and perform corrective repairs.
- Troubleshoot software, electronic control units (ECUs), sensors, communication systems, and vehicle electronics.
- Carry out testing, isolation, removal, replacement, and repair of high-voltage components where appropriately qualified.
- Conduct vehicle inspections, functional testing, and post-repair quality checks.
- Follow manufacturer/OEM technical procedures, service manuals, and repair guidelines.
- Maintain accurate service reports, diagnostic records, repair documentation, and parts information.
- Ensure compliance with EV high-voltage safety standards, workshop procedures, and occupational health and safety requirements.
- Work closely with other technicians, service advisors, and workshop teams to ensure timely and high-quality vehicle repairs.
Requirements
- Diploma, Certificate, or relevant qualification in Automotive Technology, Automotive Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven hands-on experience working with Tesla and/or Chinese EV brands.
- Strong knowledge of EV high-voltage systems, battery technology, electric motors, charging systems, inverters, BMS, and EV powertrains.
- Experience using advanced EV diagnostic and automotive scan tools.
- Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, technical manuals, and OEM repair procedures.
- Knowledge of automotive electrical and electronic systems.
- Strong troubleshooting, fault-finding, and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of high-voltage safety procedures and EV workshop safety practices.
- Good teamwork, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in a workshop environment.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with Tesla vehicles.
- Experience with Chinese EV brands, such as BYD, NIO, XPeng, Zeekr, Li Auto, Geely, GAC Aion, Chery, or similar brands.
- Experience with EV diagnostic platforms and OEM-specific diagnostic software.
- High-voltage EV technician/safety certification will be an advantage.
- Experience in an authorized EV dealership, automotive service center, or specialized EV workshop.
