Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to assess vision and eye health.
- Diagnose and treat ocular diseases and conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, and diabetic retinopathy.
- Prescribe and fit corrective lenses (glasses and contact lenses) based on patient needs and lifestyle considerations.
- Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing ocular surgeries.
- Educate patients on proper eye care techniques, lens options, and available treatments.
- Maintain detailed and accurate patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals as needed for holistic patient care.
- Stay updated on advancements in optometric practices and participate in continuing education opportunities.
Requirements:
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited optometry school.
- Active license to practice optometry in Alberta, Canada.
- Demonstrated clinical proficiency and competence in performing eye exams and diagnosing eye conditions.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-centric approach to care.
- Ability to work effectively within a team-based healthcare environment.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning.
