Job Description: Trading Operations Associate
Our client is seeking motivated and detail-oriented individuals to join their dynamic Operations team. They are looking for candidates with at least 3 years of experience in commodity trading operations, logistics, shipping, accounting, finance, or a related field, who are excited to contribute in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
As a Trading Operations Associate, you will play a key role in managing the physical commodity services operations. Working with a skilled team of professionals, you will provide services to prominent international commodity traders in relation to the execution of physical commodity flows originating from Indonesia.
Responsibilities:
- Contract & Documentation Support: Assist in drafting and negotiating sales and purchase agreements for coal transactions. Once shipments are underway, help verify and coordinate cargo documentation such as Bills of Lading (BL), Certificates of Origin (COO), Letters of Indemnity (LOI), etc.
- Logistics & Shipment Coordination: Help ensure smooth execution of shipments by scheduling laycans with suppliers and buyers. Coordinate the appointment of coal surveyors at both loading and discharge ports. Upon shipment completion, prepare and finalize laytime calculations.
- Finance Coordination: Work with relevant parties to arrange letters of credit and ensure the timely receipt of payments and settlement for shipments.
- Reporting & Analysis: Produce reports on trading activities, market dynamics, and performance metrics. Assist in creating internal and external presentations to communicate key developments.
- Collaboration & Problem Solving: Work closely with trading, logistics, finance, and shipping teams to facilitate the seamless execution of transactions. Support in resolving any operational challenges that arise during the process.
What You'll Bring to the Role:
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years' experience in accounting, finance, commodity trading, logistics, or a similar field.
- Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or another relevant discipline.
- Skills: Strong analytical abilities with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Attributes: A proactive and solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.
