Summary: 

The Plant Manager is responsible for setting up and running the operations in Cikarang, Bekasi, Indonesia. The facility will produce products for high-voltage transmission lines worldwide. This role involves overseeing daily operations, developing processes, handling complex issues, planning for the future, mentoring staff, and contributing to the business strategy. The Plant Manager reports directly to the General Manager and also has a reporting line to the Director of Global Manufacturing in Irvine, California, USA.

Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure a safe workplace in the facility is maintained at all times.
  • Provide overall leadership for the manufacturing facility.
  • Create and manage the Production, Engineering, Quality, HSE, Purchasing, Facilities and Materials departments.
  • Assist in the development and expansion of the operations. This will include planning and directing the installation, testing, operation, maintenance and repair of the manufacturing and facility equipment as well as the implementation of the Quality Management System.
  • Recruit department supervisors and employees; assign and direct their work while ensuring their training and development.
  • Ensure the facility complies with all local and national regulations relating to Environment, Health, and Safety.
  • Establish and manage customer satisfaction goals throughout the organization.
  • Provide overall facility leadership to ensure production goals are achieved.
  • Prepare work schedules and teams as needed to support 24/5 and/or 24/7 facility operations
  • Lead capital planning and implementation efforts.
  • Manage overall department budgets, spending, and headcount.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and standards for the facility.
  • Drive the required activities to ensure timely ISO 9001 & 14001 certification and renewal.
  • Lead and manage formal problem-solving activities.
  • Supervise the departments responsible for the plant maintenance programs based on best practices with an emphasis on planning/scheduling and preventive/predictive maintenance.
  • Ensure product quality and timely order fulfillment.
  • Review and recommend or approve contracts and cost estimates for new projects & equipment.
  • Interface with local and national authorities as required.
  • Prepare reports, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for improving plant operations and solving maintenance-related problems.
  • Conduct employee performance reviews based on job descriptions to determine competency, knowledge, and contribution of employees.
  • Support process improvements in manufacturing with new ideas, solutions and statistical analysis.
  • Review the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting investigative programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
  • Assure product and process quality; testing of finished- product and process capabilities; confirming respective standards.
    
    Requirements: 
  • Excellent verbal and written English skills.
  • Experience with World Class Manufacturing processes and methods: Six Sigma, Lean, Kaizen, Kanban, 5S, TPS, ISO9001 and other advanced manufacturing/quality methodologies, and concepts is required.
  • 10+ years experience in multinational manufacturing operations with both direct and indirect reports.
  • 5+ years experience in 24 hour/5 day and 24 hour/7 day plant operations.
  • Must have previous experience establishing and managing a facility or operations.
  • Must have very good communication skills with his team and with workmen and be engaged with people.
  • Hands-on experience with the planning and development of manufacturing operations.
  • Proficiency with basic MS Office computer software, e.g., word processing, email, presentation and spreadsheets.
  • Prior implementation of a Quality Management System a plus.
  • Prior application and certification of ISO9001 and ISO14001 highly desired.
  • Experience with mechanical and hydraulic equipment.
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • Master degree in Engineering, Business, Management or Finance, is a plus.
  • Ability to travel internationally for training (usually less than 2 weeks).
  • Must have excellent knowledge of Indonesian regulations and laws relating to a manufacturing facility.
