Reports to: Director Indonesia and Global Traders (functionally)

Job description

As Commercial Head you will play a key role in the success of the company. You will be part of a global team in a dynamic environment with international exposure.

The key responsibilities of the Head of Commercial are:

  • Manage the commercial team in Indonesia, responsible for its growth and performance
  • Maintain good relationships with existing coffee suppliers and expand supplier network, negotiate contracts in the best interest of the company and aligned with company strategy
  • Utilize in-depth knowledge and understanding of client and supplier characteristics, daily market/price movements, coffee flow/distribution, including competition and upcountry
  • Manage supplier and client assessment and risk, including forward and spot contracts
  • Report daily on market developments (prices, coffee flows etc.) and provide input for commercial decisions
  • Weekly purchase planning, monitoring, and alignment with finance and quality departments
  • Risk and Position Management: commercial exposures, long/short position
  • Reporting to Managing Director and liaise with global team (Regional Manager, traders) on commercial matters
  • Contribute to (local) sales

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Minimum 3 years extensive, dedicated commercial experience
  • Initiative, generate ideas, and passion for making successful commercial deals
  • Experience in coffee, and green coffee beans in specific, would be an advantage
  • Strong desire to commit and dedicate his/her energy to growth and development of the business
  • Significant and demonstrable experience of negotiating business deals (supplier facing)
  • Experience negotiating large scale, high value, and complex contracts
  • In-depth knowledge of negotiation strategies, risk management, and risk/value analysis
  • Ideally a strong understanding of the commercial green coffee supply chain, including the factors that constrain, enable, and enhance the capability of individual suppliers and the supply chain as a whole
  • Professional fluency in Bahasa Indonesia and English is a must
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
