Job Purpose

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing the financial reporting, balance sheet integrity, cash flow forecasting, and statutory compliance of the company. This role ensures accurate and timely financial data, provides insights to support business decisions, and maintains full compliance with tax regulations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Reporting & Balance Sheet Management

   • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in SMART system.

   • Maintain correct balance sheet across all accounts, ensuring clear documentation and traceability of all items.

   • Conduct monthly control and reconciliation of all balance sheet items, ensuring transparency in opening and closing balances.

   • Prepare and review financial statements with the Finance Director, providing explanations for variances and documenting decisions.

2. Cash Flow & Balance Sheet Forecasting

   • Develop monthly forecasts for all balance sheet accounts for the full fiscal year.

   • Prepare cash flow forecasts based on data from payments team, open-to-buy (OTB) plans, and other relevant sources.

   • Ensure forecasts align with P&L and official OTB, identifying discrepancies and providing recommendations.

3. Tax Compliance and Statutory Obligations

   • Oversee accurate and timely filing and payment of monthly VAT and Withholding Tax (WHT).

   • Review and approve all VAT and WHT payments and corresponding accounting entries.

   • Manage annual tax filings and refund claims, working closely with external tax consultants (MUC) to ensure compliance.

   • Provide monthly updates to the Finance Director on tax positions and any changes in accounts or liabilities.

4. Monitoring & Reporting

   • Maintain monthly tracking of all accounts, assets, and liabilities.

   • Deliver comprehensive reports to the Finance Director, highlighting changes and potential risks in financial positions.

   • Support audits and ensure readiness for external audit processes, including documentation and reconciliations.

Key Requirements

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Professional certification (CPA, CA, or equivalent) is preferred.

• Minimum of 5 - 7 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably in retail or FMCG industries.

• Strong understanding of financial reporting standards, tax regulations, and forecasting techniques.

• Proficiency in financial systems, ideally SMART or similar ERP platforms.

• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
