Job Summary

The Manager, Legal is responsible for supporting the Senior Manager, Legal and Company Secretarial in providing legal advisory services, managing legal risks, and overseeing company secretarial matters. The role ensures the Company's legal interests are protected through effective contract management, legal compliance, litigation support, and corporate governance practices while delivering practical legal solutions aligned with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and strategic guidance on corporate, commercial, and property-related matters to protect the Company's business interests.
  • Review, draft, negotiate, and finalize legal documents and commercial agreements, including procurement contracts, customer agreements, tenancy, sub-lease, novation, settlement agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and performance bonds.
  • Manage litigation matters by coordinating with internal stakeholders and external solicitors, monitoring legal proceedings, and supporting the preparation of legal documentation.
  • Support company secretarial functions, including coordinating Board and Committee meetings, preparing resolutions and minutes, and monitoring follow-up actions.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, corporate governance, Information Security (IS), and IT policies while maintaining departmental KPIs and best legal practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Law (LL.B Hons) and admitted to the Malaysian Bar.
  • Experience as a Legal Practitioner and/or In-house Legal Counsel, with knowledge of company secretarial practices, corporate governance principles, and the Companies Act 2016.
  • Strong legal drafting, contract negotiation, report writing, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to provide practical legal solutions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia, both written and spoken.
  • Resourceful, meticulous, reliable, and able to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
