The Opportunity

As they recently invested in the Australian power market and partnered with a renowned Renewable Energy Developer & retail utility company to focus on developing large-scale Energy Storage & Solar projects locally, they are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Commercial/ Contracts Manager to join our client's expanding team, focusing on large-scale solar and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. 

As a key member of their growing company, you will focus on large-scale solar and battery storage projects. You will play a critical role in overseeing project finances, contracts, and stakeholder relationships to ensure the successful delivery of their renewable energy projects, while managing existing contracts and driving new contract origination and procurement.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Contract Negotiation with Customers: Lead negotiations, draft amendments, and coordinate approvals.
    • Oversee upstream Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) offtake. Ensure smooth and efficient execution of the agreement before it's fully signed. Focuses on the pre-award activities, including contract drafting, negotiation, and securing necessary approvals. 
    • Contract Origination & Procurement: Develop, negotiate, and execute large-scale contracts (e.g., EPC agreements). Ensure compliance with procurement policies and contract law.
    • Contract Administration & Management: Oversee smaller contracts, maintain databases, track milestones, and manage amendments.
    • Stakeholder & Risk Management: Liaise with internal teams, contractors, and legal advisors. Conduct risk analysis and support executive leadership.
    • Commercial/Financial Oversight: Provide advice for offers and tenders, review pricing, and assess risks.
    • Coaching & Compliance: Coach the project team on local legislation and regulations. Ensure subcontracts align with main contracts.


Skill Requirements & Qualifications

  • Fluent in Chinese and English, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Min. 2-3 years prior expertise in a similar Contracts Manager role in Renewable Energy.
    • Degree in Contract Management, Construction Management, Engineering, Commerce, or Law.
    • Background in construction or energy projects, procurement, or legal advisory roles will be advantageous.
    • Prior experience with EPC agreements and renewable energy projects (solar and/or BESS).
    • Strong communication, negotiation, drafting, and presentation skills.
    • Knowledge of contract negotiation, risk mitigation, and Australian regulatory frameworks.
