The Cost Control Analyst will support the financial and operational monitoring of construction and development projects by ensuring project costs, budgets, contractor billings, and cash flow requirements are properly tracked and reported.
The role works closely with project managers, site teams, contractors, suppliers, procurement, and finance stakeholders to provide visibility on project performance and support informed business decisions. The position plays a key role in helping projects remain within approved budgets while maintaining accurate financial and project records.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Monitoring and Budget Control
  • Monitor project expenditures against approved budgets.
  • Track actual project costs and identify budget variances or potential cost overruns.
  • Assist in maintaining project cost monitoring tools and budget trackers.
  • Support project forecasting and financial planning activities.
  • Provide recommendations and insights based on project cost performance.
Contractor Billing and Cost Validation
  • Review and validate contractor, subcontractor, and supplier billings.
  • Ensure billings are supported by proper documentation and approved accomplishments.
  • Coordinate with project and site teams regarding billing discrepancies and payment concerns.
  • Monitor progress billings, retention balances, and payment schedules.
Project Reporting and Analysis
  • Prepare project cost reports, budget utilization reports, cash flow reports, and management summaries.
  • Analyze project financial performance and identify significant variances.
  • Support preparation of project profitability and performance reports.
  • Maintain accurate project records and supporting documentation.
Project Coordination
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, procurement teams, contractors, and finance stakeholders.
  • Support the monitoring of project milestones and related financial implications.
  • Assist in improving project monitoring processes and reporting controls.
  • Ensure project-related transactions comply with internal policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy, Management Accounting, Finance, Industrial Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in project accounting, cost control, project controls, construction accounting, or project finance.
  • Experience supporting construction, real estate development, infrastructure, engineering, or project-based environments.
  • Knowledge of project budgeting, cost monitoring, cash flow tracking, and financial reporting.
  • Experience reviewing contractor, subcontractor, and supplier billings.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify cost variances and financial risks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, or similar platforms.
  • Able to coordinate effectively with project teams, contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Comfortable handling multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
