Job Description:

The Rebar Estimator will be responsible for developing accurate and timely cost and quantity estimates for reinforcement steel projects. The role will involve reviewing structural drawings, specifications, and project requirements to determine material quantities, fabrication requirements, costs, and pricing.

Key Responsibilities:

Estimation & Quantity Take-Off

Review and interpret structural drawings, project specifications, reinforcement plans, and other technical documents.

Prepare accurate estimates of reinforcement steel quantities, weights, bar sizes, cutting, bending, fabrication, and delivery requirements.

Calculate project costs based on material requirements, fabrication activities, logistics, and other relevant cost components.

Drawing & Technical Review

Analyze structural drawings and project specifications to understand project scope and reinforcement requirements.

Review and validate Bar Bending Schedules (BBS) for accuracy, completeness, dimensions, bar shapes, and quantities.

Identify discrepancies, missing information, or technical requirements that may affect project costs.

Tender & Quotation Preparation

Prepare detailed and competitive quotations based on project requirements and established pricing guidelines.

Prepare and submit tenders within required deadlines.

Review project scope, commercial requirements, and technical specifications before finalizing bids.

Cost Optimization & Value Engineering

Identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency while maintaining project specifications and quality requirements.

Develop value-engineering options where appropriate to support competitive and commercially viable quotations.

Consider material utilization, fabrication requirements, production capabilities, and delivery requirements when developing estimates.

Pricing & Cost Database Management

Assist in maintaining accurate cost databases, pricing references, and standard estimating models.

Monitor relevant pricing and market information that may affect project estimates.

Update estimating information based on changes in material costs, fabrication requirements, and other project-related factors.

Quality, Compliance & Standards

Ensure estimates are prepared in accordance with applicable project specifications, technical standards, and relevant industry codes.

Follow established quality management, ISO, governance, compliance, and safety requirements.

Ensure estimating documentation is complete, accurate, and properly maintained.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline is preferred.

3–5 years of relevant experience in rebar estimating, reinforcement detailing, structural steel estimation, or a closely related field.

Experience in reinforcement steel, construction, structural, or precast concrete projects is an advantage.

Working knowledge of reinforcement steel fabrication, cutting, and bending processes is preferred.

Experience using rebar detailing, estimating, or construction-related software, such as CADS RC, Tekla Structures, Bluebeam, or equivalent platforms.

Strong ability to read and interpret structural drawings, reinforcement plans, specifications, and Bar Bending Schedules.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications, particularly for quantity calculations, costing, and data analysis.

Strong numerical and analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
