Job Openings Long & Short-Form Video Editor

About the job Long & Short-Form Video Editor

About the Role

We are a fast-growing wellness brand rethinking the traditional protein bar — an all-natural, whole-food protein bar using clean, recognizable ingredients. As the brand expands across retail, our founders are documenting the behind-the-scenes journey of building the business — from travelling across the US and supporting retail launches to demos, events, and everyday startup life.

We're looking for a Long & Short-Form Video Editor to turn that raw footage into engaging, story-driven content. This role will primarily focus on editing long-form YouTube-style content, supported by short-form edits for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and the founders' personal social channels.

You'll receive raw footage from the founders and be responsible for turning it into polished, engaging content that captures the personality, energy, and reality of building a fast-growing consumer brand. We're looking for someone who is more than a technical editor — you should understand storytelling, pacing, humour, hooks, and retention, and be able to identify the moments within hours of footage that are actually worth watching.

Work Structure & Requirements

  • Location: Remote / Virtual
  • Schedule: Part-time (20 hours per week)
  • Time Zone: EST business hours
  • Compensation: 8 USD per hour

Key Responsibilities

1. Long-Form Video Editing

  • Edit raw founder footage into engaging YouTube-style episodes, typically around 15–25 minutes
  • Review several hours of raw footage and identify the strongest moments, storylines, and narrative arcs
  • Turn loosely structured footage into cohesive, entertaining stories
  • Cut unnecessary material while maintaining natural pacing and personality
  • Add music, sound effects, text, graphics, subtitles, and other elements where appropriate
  • Handle basic colour correction, audio cleanup, and overall visual consistency
  • Create strong openings and hooks that encourage viewers to continue watching
  • Incorporate B-roll and supporting footage to strengthen storytelling
  • Manage revisions and deliver polished final edits on schedule

2. Short-Form Content

  • Turn long-form footage and standalone clips into TikToks, Instagram Reels, and other vertical content
  • Identify short moments that can work independently as compelling social content
  • Edit clips with strong hooks, captions, pacing, and platform-native formatting
  • Create content for both the brand and the founders' personal accounts
  • Develop teasers and cutdowns that help drive audiences toward longer YouTube content
  • Repurpose existing footage efficiently to maximise the value of each shoot

3. Content & Editing Workflow

  • Organise raw footage, project files, and completed assets in a clear and repeatable system
  • Maintain consistent editing styles, fonts, graphics, and visual treatments
  • Work closely with the founders to understand their preferred style and continuously refine it
  • Manage multiple videos at different stages of the editing process
  • Proactively suggest opportunities to turn existing footage into additional content
  • Stay current with editing styles and content trends across YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience: 3+ years of professional video editing experience
  • Portfolio: Strong portfolio demonstrating both long-form and short-form editing; experience editing YouTube, documentary-style, vlog, founder-led, or behind-the-scenes content
  • Storytelling: Strong understanding of storytelling, pacing, and audience retention; ability to take several hours of raw footage and independently determine what should make the final cut
  • Short-Form: Excellent short-form editing instincts for TikTok and Instagram Reels
  • Technical: Proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or similar professional editing software; comfortable with captions, motion graphics, sound design, and basic colour correction
  • Organisation: Highly organised and able to manage large volumes of footage
  • Communication: Excellent written and spoken English; able to work independently with limited direction
  • Bonus: Experience editing content for CPG, food, wellness, fitness, or lifestyle brands; experience editing founder-led YouTube series or startup/build-in-public content; basic motion graphics or After Effects experience; YouTube thumbnail design; familiarity with YouTube retention analytics; experience repurposing long-form content into multiple short-form assets
