Senior BI Engineer

Role and Responsibilities

• BI Solution Development: Design and implement BI solutions that provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
• Data Modeling: Create and maintain data models that optimize the storage and retrieval of data for reporting purposes.
• Dashboard Creation: Develop interactive dashboards and reports using BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker) to visualize data effectively.
• Collaboration: Work closely with business analysts and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Data Quality Assurance: Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of data used in reporting and analysis.
• Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize the performance of BI solutions to ensure timely access to data.
• Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of BI processes, data sources, and reporting standards.
• Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to junior BI engineers and team members.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology.
• 7+ years of experience in data engineering or related roles.
• Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, data visualization techniques and cloud tools.

Preferred Skills

• Proficiency in BI tools such as Looker studio, Tableau, Power BI, Qlik or incorta.
• Understanding data storytelling principles to create impactful dashboards.
• Knowledge of designing intuitive and user-friendly BI interfaces.
• Support ad-hoc data analysis requests and provide recommendations based on insights.
• Strong SQL skills for data extraction and manipulation.
• Hands-on experience with ETL development and data warehouse solutions (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, Azure Synapse).
• Collaborate with business analysts, stakeholders, and IT teams to gather BI requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• familiar with ETL tools and processes.
• Familiarity with programming languages (e.g., Python, R) for advanced analytics.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Authority:

• The Senior BI Engineer has the authority to design BI solutions and recommend tools and technologies for reporting and analytics.

• Responsible for influencing data governance practices within the organization.

Dimensions:

• Handle large datasets and contribute to the organizations overall data strategy.
• Collaborate with various teams to align BI initiatives with business objectives.
• Drive continuous improvement in BI processes and reporting methodologies.
