UX Lead
Job Description:
We are seeking a Lead UX Consultant to drive the User-Centred Design (UCD) strategy across a critical infrastructure value chain. This is a strategic "Player-Coach" role designed for a senior practitioner who excels at the intersection of complex problem-solving, design governance, and organisational UX maturity.
- Lead the UCD approach for high-priority programmes, ensuring design outputs align with both technical requirements and user success outcomes.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive Experience Framework, including design standards, journey management, and the implementation of standardised metrics such as SUS or UMUX.
- Elevate the wider team's UX maturity through expert mentorship and the creation of core design artefacts, principles, and personas.
- Oversee project-level UX resources and vendors to ensure consistency across Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid delivery methodologies.
- Translate qualitative and quantitative research insights into evidence-based strategic recommendations for senior leadership and project boards.
- Manage UX risks, issues, and change controls, ensuring all design impact is quantified and evidenced within the unified delivery framework.
- Facilitate discovery workshops, kick-off sessions, and insight reviews to build strong, collaborative relationships across the business.
The Ideal Candidate You will bring extensive experience in a Senior or Lead UX capacity, ideally within a regulated or large-scale enterprise environment. You are equally comfortable defining high-level design governance as you are facilitating a workshop or producing journey maps. Your ability to act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders while maintaining a focus on technical delivery is essential.
This role will operate on a hybrid working basis with opportunity to work from either Glasgow, Aberdeen or Perth
