We are currently seeking a dedicated and accomplished Resident Engineer for the Hudson Tunnel Project (HTP). This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to contribute to this landmark project that is poised to deliver transformative impacts across economic, transportation and environmental sustainability.
The busiest rail connection between New York, New Jersey, and the Northeast Corridor, the Hudson Tunnel Project will improve capacity, reliability, and resiliency of commuter and intercity rail transit serving 800,000 daily passengers from Washington, D.C. to New York and New England. This is a milestone project that is slated to receive nearly $12 billion in federal funding, the largest investment in a mass transit project in modern history.
As the Resident Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the delivery of this significant project. Responsibilities
- Participate in the development, execution, supervision, and coordination of all technical aspects, office and field engineering assignments including review of plans, schedules, contracts, procedures, and construction methods.
- Represent the Construction Management team during Daily Construction Meetings with the Contractor.
- Support Senior CM Staff with technical input.
- Manage oversight review of the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) design, fabrication, and operation during tunneling.
- Manage oversight review of detail design, fabrication, delivery, and installation of precast concrete tunnel lining segments.
- Coordinate with the project team to ensure timely completion of tunneling works according to project specifications.
- Monitor tunneling progress, ground conditions, and excavation parameters.
- Review geotechnical and structural monitoring data.
- Implement safety protocols and quality control measures to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Prepare progress reports, documentation, and reports on TBM operations.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and provide solutions to challenges encountered during tunneling operations.
- Coordinate with the Outreach Team and Third-Party Stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Proven experience working with Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs).
- Tunneling experience, specifically in pressurized face TBM mining, precast concrete segmental lining, and cross passage construction.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
- Understanding of safety standards, regulations, and best practices in tunneling operations.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
The estimated starting salary for this position is $170k. Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills and qualifications.
