Senior Director/ VP of R&D

About the Client:

They are a fast-growing medical technology company dedicated to transforming patient care through innovation, precision, and smart engineering. Their products empower healthcare professionals and improve outcomes worldwide and were just getting started.

To support their rapid expansion in Asia and strengthen their innovation capabilities, they are seeking an R&D Director to lead their Singapore-based innovation hub, driving the next generation of medical equipment from concept to commercialization.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and inspire a multidisciplinary R&D team (mechanical, electrical, software, and biomedical engineers) to develop cutting-edge medical equipment.

• Shape the innovation strategy for the Singapore hub, aligning local projects with global R&D priorities.

• Oversee the full product lifecycle from research, design, prototyping, and validation to transfer to manufacturing.

• Collaborate globally with product management, clinical affairs, regulatory, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless product development and launch.

• Build strong partnerships with universities, hospitals, and research institutes in Singapore and across Asia.

• Drive a culture of innovation fostering creativity, technical excellence, and scientific rigor.

• Ensure compliance with global regulatory and quality standards (ISO 13485, FDA, CE, etc.).

• Manage budgets and resources effectively to deliver on R&D goals and timelines.

Qualifications

• Masters or Ph.D. in Engineering, Biomedical Science, or a related field.

• 10+ years of experience in R&D leadership roles within the medical equipment or life sciences industry.

• Proven track record of bringing medical equipment or diagnostic systems to market.

• Strong understanding of design control, risk management, and regulatory pathways.

• Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage diverse technical teams.

• Experience collaborating with cross-functional and global teams.
