Job Summary
The Pediatric Speech and Language Therapist is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating speech, language, communication, and feeding/swallowing disorders in children. The role focuses on improving communication skills and overall functional outcomes using evidence-based, child-centered therapy approaches.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive speech and language assessments for pediatric patients
- Develop and implement individualized therapy plans based on assessed needs
- Provide therapy for speech sound disorders, language delays, fluency disorders, voice disorders, and social communication difficulties
- Work with children with autism spectrum disorder, developmental delays, learning difficulties, and neurological conditions
- Deliver feeding and swallowing therapy when applicable
- Educate and coach parents/caregivers on home programs and carryover strategies
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (occupational therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists, educators, physicians)
- Monitor, evaluate, and document patient progress accurately
- Maintain clinical documentation in line with professional and regulatory standards
- Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and continuing professional development
- Create a safe, engaging, and child-friendly therapy environment
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Speech and Language Therapy / Speech-Language Pathology
- Valid DHA license
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience working with pediatric patients
- Strong knowledge of pediatric speech and language development and assessment tools
- Experience with pediatric speech, language, and communication disorders
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to build rapport with children and families
- Patience, empathy, and child-centered approach
- Strong documentation, organization, and time-management skills
