Position Overview
We are looking for a results-driven Category Manager to manage and grow assigned product categories across FMCG retail and e-commerce channels. The role involves developing category strategies, optimizing product assortment, driving sales through pricing and promotions, and ensuring consistent brand visibility both in-store and online.
Key Responsibilities
Category Strategy & Growth
- Develop and implement category plans to achieve sales, margin, and market share targets across traditional retail and e-commerce platforms.
- Conduct market research and analyze consumer insights, trends, and competitor activities.
- Identify opportunities for product portfolio expansion, new launches, and seasonal campaigns.
Retail & E-Commerce Channel Management
- Optimize product assortment, pricing, and promotions for both offline (retail/distribution) and online (marketplaces, D2C platforms, e-retailers).
- Coordinate with e-commerce teams to ensure accurate product listings, content, images, and digital merchandising.
- Monitor online sales performance, traffic, and conversion to adjust strategies.
- Ensure strong brand visibility at physical points of sale (POS) through planograms, displays, and activations.
Supplier & Stakeholder Management
- Negotiate with suppliers on pricing, terms, and promotional support.
- Manage relationships with key suppliers, distributors, and e-commerce partners.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, supply chain, sales, and finance teams to execute plans effectively.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Track sales, profitability, and market share performance for assigned categories.
- Monitor inventory levels, ensuring optimal stock across retail outlets and online warehouses.
- Provide regular reports with insights and recommendations to management.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, or related field (MBA is a plus).
- 4 - 6 years of experience in category management, trade marketing, or product management in FMCG and/or e-commerce.
- Strong knowledge of FMCG distribution models, retail operations, and online marketplaces.
- Excellent analytical and data-driven decision-making skills.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office; knowledge of ERP, retail management systems, and e-commerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, Magento, Amazon Seller Central) is an advantage.
