Job Summary:

The Senior Restaurant Hostess plays a crucial role in ensuring an exceptional guest experience by greeting, seating, and managing reservations. As the first point of contact for guests, they set the tone for a positive dining experience. In addition to hosting duties, the Senior Hostess is responsible for supervising and mentoring junior hostesses and ensuring that the front-of-house operations run smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

Guest Reception and Seating:

  • Greet guests warmly upon arrival and ensure they feel welcomed.
  • Manage guest flow by seating them in a timely and organized manner.
  • Handle reservations and special requests efficiently.

Supervising Hostess Team:

  • Oversee and guide junior hostesses, ensuring they provide exceptional customer service.
  • Assign duties and manage the hostess station to ensure smooth operations during peak hours.
  • Train new hostesses and ensure adherence to company standards and procedures.

Reservation Management:

  • Manage online and phone reservations, ensuring tables are allocated efficiently.
  • Coordinate with the kitchen and waitstaff to manage guest flow and minimize wait times.
  • Handle guest inquiries regarding wait times, special accommodations, or menu offerings.

4. Guest Relations and Complaint Resolution:

  • Engage with guests to ensure they are satisfied with their experience.
  • Handle guest complaints or issues courteously, and resolve them promptly.
  • Communicate special guest needs to servers and management.

Front-of-House Management:

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming hostess station and lobby area.
  • Ensure menus are clean and presentable.
  • Monitor wait times and ensure guests are updated regularly.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a hostess, ideally in a senior or supervisory role.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Knowledge of reservation management systems is a plus.
