As a dental technician, your main role will involve designing, constructing, repairing, and customising dental appliances for patients requiring tooth replacement, aesthetic enhancements, or improved dental function. Job description:

  • Handle processes such as melting metals, mixing plaster, and building porcelain.
  • Match the colours of natural teeth based on photographs.
  • Observe, receive, and obtain the necessary information from all relevant resources.
  • Develop specific goals through planning, prioritising, and organising work.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues.
  • Monitor and review information from materials to detect and assess problems.
  • Handle and utilise small machinery.
  • Analyse information and evaluate results to carry out solution-oriented strategies to solve problems.
  • Inspect equipment structures and materials to identify the cause of errors or defects.
  • Develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with others.
  • Develop, design, and create new applications, ideas, relationships, systems, or products, which may include artistic contributions.
  • Identify information through categorising, estimating, recognising differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events.
  • Keep up with the trends and knowledge and apply it to the day-to-day operations.
  • Scan and reproduce models using CAD technology.
  • Customise designed dental products are milled using CAD/CAM technology.
  • Examine models and impressions to determine the design of the dental products to be constructed.
  • Fabricate, alter, and repair dental devices such as crowns, bridges, inlays, dentures, and onlays.
  • Place tooth models on an articulator that mimics jaw movement and evaluate the functionality of the models.

Qualifications/Attributes:

  • Possess a Diploma in Dental Technology or equivalent, or at least have 3 years of relevant experience in lieu of qualification.
  • Must have at least 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Must have superior knowledge and rich experience in implant componentry.
  • Must have the skills and experience in crowns, veneers, and full mouth rehabilitation.
  • Must have exceptional knowledge of infection control.
  • Ability to multi-task with an exceptional level of concentration.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to dealing with patients, colleagues, and superiors.

Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000 p.a. excluding superannuation
